The DISRUPT team successfully organised a two-day capacity-building event focused on enhancing the skills of professionals dealing with digital evidence in child trafficking cases for sexual exploitation. Hosted by Victim Support Europe at the European Parliament on October 16-17, 2024, the training drew participants from over 10 European countries, creating a vibrant and diverse environment conducive to knowledge exchange and collaboration.
This event brought together law enforcement officials, legal experts, digital forensic specialists, and members of civil society, all united in their commitment to tackling the complex challenges posed by technology-facilitated child trafficking. Through presentations and workshops led by experienced professionals, attendees gained valuable insights into the latest tools, techniques, and best practices for effectively handling digital evidence in such sensitive cases.
The collaborative atmosphere fostered at the event was instrumental in promoting cross-border cooperation, which is essential for addressing the transnational nature of child trafficking. Participants engaged in discussions about the importance of sharing information and strategies to enhance the collective response to this pressing issue.
In addition to expert-led sessions, the event offered opportunities for attendees to network and collaborate with their peers from across Europe. The DISRUPT team’s initiative not only highlighted the urgency of addressing child trafficking but also underscored the vital role of collaboration in safeguarding the rights and well-being of children throughout Europe.
Looking ahead, we invite professionals to save the date for the upcoming national training sessions: Sofia on November 26, and Blagoevgrad on November 29. Additionally, the second EU training will take place in Vienna on February 12-13, 2025.
