Law and Internet Foundation (LIF) had the privilege to attend the Security Research Event (SRE) in Warsaw on 24 and 25 June 2025, which is a recurrent event organised by the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) of the European Commission.

With due regard to the rise of global uncertainty, the rise of organised crime, and increasing concerns around the role of technology in civil security, SRE concentrates around the importance of fostering security innovation in Europe. With leading experts from academia, industry and policy, and safety and security practitioners, the discussions focused on solutions made in Europe to address global challenges. Panels delved into the topics of future technologies for border management, the importance of robust supply chains for critical infrastructure, the role of security research in crisis preparedness and solutions for the fight against crime and terrorism.

Following the official agenda, LIF used the opportunity to present three major projects where the organisation is contributing as a Legal & Ethics partner, namely: ACTING; TESTUDO; SPARROW.
