The Law and Internet Foundation took part in CyberConf 2026, one of Bulgaria's leading forums dedicated to cybersecurity, digital resilience, artificial intelligence and emerging technology driven risks. The event brought together cybersecurity professionals, legal experts, public institutions, technology companies and researchers. They discussed the evolving threat landscape and the regulatory challenges accompanying digital evolution and transformation.

The program of the conference covered a broad range of topics at the intersection of law, technology and security. Discussions and presentations focused on the implementation of NIS2 Directive, the growing impact of the EU AI Act, cyber resilience strategies, identity and access management in the age of artificial intelligence, and the increasing sophistication of cybercriminals supports by technologies.

Particular attention was given to the rapid evolution and spreading of cyber threats and the ways in which artificial intelligence is transforming both defensive and offensive cyber capabilities. The speakers highlighted emerging trends in including AI-assisted phishing campaigns, identity-related risks, online fraud schemes and the broader implications of AI for cybersecurity governance and compliance.

The conference further provided valuable insights into the work of law enforcement authorities in combating cybercrime, including the use of international police information systems, cross-boarder cooperation and communication mechanisms and data-driven approaches to addressing increasingly complex digital threats.

For LIF, participation in CyberConf 2026 represented an important opportunity to engage with current developments in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence governance and digital regulation. The discussions reinforced the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation between legal experts, policymakers, technical specialist and civil society in building a secure, resilient and rights-respecting digital environment.

We thank the organisers, speakers and participants for the valuable exchange of knowledge and perspectives! We are looking forward to future conferences and the continuation of our work at the intersection of law and technology.
