Alba Iulia, often referred to as the "Other Capital", is a medium-sized Romanian city with 74,500 residents. Between 2007 and 2021, it secured over 250 million Euros in non-reimbursable funding for sustainable development across various sectors, including energy efficiency. Known nationally for its effective administration and citizen-focused approach, Alba Iulia is recognised as a model for urban management. The city envisions becoming a Smart City with strategic growth, improved living standards, and enhanced competitiveness, attracting both local and international businesses, talent, and investment, while aligning with EU policies on territorial and urban development.
