The Lisbon City Council is the representative collegiate executive body of the municipality of Lisbon, whose mission is to define and execute policies that promote the development of the municipality.
The Lisbon City Council is the largest in the country, being composed of 17 councillors, representing different political forces. The first candidate on the list with the most votes in a municipal election or, in the event of a vacancy in the position, whichever follows him on the respective list, assumes the position of Mayor of the Municipality.
