An international conference in the education sector was held between the 23 and 26 of August on the initiative of six partner universities from Bulgaria, Japan and Kazakhstan. 100 panelists from 28 different countries participated - Bulgaria, Italy, Japan, Austria, Germany, Latvia, Israel, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, France, Slovenia, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Moldova, Czech Republic, Canada, Turkey, Croatia, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, Colombia, Norway, Hong Kong. Prof. Daniela Ilieva, Executive Director of the Law and Internet Foundation, presented innovative methods for training the trainers and reviewed the LEAGUE project, coordinated by the Foundation, as a good example of practice. Prof. Ilieva pointed out that one in three Internet users worldwide is a young person, and the trend towards more frequent use of online services has been particularly strong since the COVID-19 pandemic. This puts young people at risk of online violence and exploitation, which leave lasting marks on them. Training educational professionals is key to better understanding and preventing online violence. For example, within the LEAGUE project, special training materials have been developed to provide professionals with information about online child sexual abuse, how to identify and avoid it, and how to provide psychological support to victims.
