On 4 March, the webinar “International Family Mediation in Child Abduction Cases - Dialogue That Matters” successfully brought together 55 participants, including legal professionals, mediators, and experts working in the fields of family law and child protection.

The event was organized within the framework of the iCare2 project and created a valuable space for discussion on an extremely sensitive and important topic - the role of mediation in cross-border family disputes and international child abduction cases.

The speakers of the webinar were:

Prof. Daniela Ilieva, Executive Director of the Law and Internet Foundation and partner in the iCare2 project, and
Attorney Yordanka Bekirska, lawyer specializing in international family law and certified mediator in international mediation.

During the session, participants explored how international family mediation works in practice and discussed the ways in which courts and mediators can place the child at the center of decision-making processes.

A key focus of the discussion was how constructive dialogue between parents can lead to sustainable agreements that not only resolve disputes but also support more stable family relationships in the future.

The webinar sparked strong engagement among participants, who actively contributed with questions and insights, turning the session into a dynamic and meaningful exchange of experience.

The event once again demonstrated that mediation can be a powerful tool for reaching solutions that prioritize the best interests of the child, especially in complex cross-border family situations.

We would like to thank all participants for their interest and active involvement.
