Caroline Pirard is a lawyer who works alongside therapist Ann Sordo, practicing parental coordination - a relatively new approach in Belgium designed to support families in high-conflict situations. Together, they help parents shift their focus away from conflict and back to what matters most: the wellbeing of their child.

Caroline explains that parental coordination helps parents move out of a constant fight or survival mode. Instead of reacting to each other, parents are guided to respond to their child’s needs, behaviours, and emotional state. The work is highly practical and rooted in everyday family life.

By combining legal and therapeutic perspectives, they support parents in translating legal decisions into daily reality, understanding what court rulings mean in practice, and building constructive communication patterns that protect the child and reduce tension between parents.

At its core, parental coordination creates a child-centred welfare framework, helping families move from conflict toward cooperation and stability.
