In the National Military University Vasil Levski was held scientific
conference together with the Commission for personal data protection and
the State commission on Informational security.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. George Dimitrov, Chairman of Law and Internet Foundation, and lawyer Desislava Krusteva - senior expert at the Foundation were invited to participate in the conference, discussing informational security. The scientific forum was held at “Artillery, Air Defense and CIS” Faculty of the National Military University Vasil Levski. It was organized by the faculty, the department “Informational security” together with the Commission for personal data protection and the State commission on Information security.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitrov and lawyer Krusteva, informed the participants in the conference with the legal problems associated with the use of intelligent systems for tracking and identification. They also presented the project Scalable Measures for Automated Recognition Technologies (SMART), implemented with the financial support of European Commission under Seventh Framework Programme. Law and Internet Foundation is a partner in the project together with INTERPOL and 18 European Universities, centers for international research and private organizations.
The experts explained the problems connected with the “intelligent” systems for tracking and identification and underlined the need for concrete legal framework for the use of these systems.
