The INNOCENT team is pleased to invite you to the final conference of the project, taking place on 18 April 2024 at the CEELI Institute in Prague. The Improving the application of the presumption of iNNOCEnce when applying elecTronic evidence (INNOCENT) project focuses on the procedural rights of persons suspected or accused of crime, in particular their right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty, and how this should be construed in the context of electronic evidence. INNOCENT targets exclusively Central and Eastern European jurisdictions to map similarities and best and worst practices in the region regarding the practical application of the presumption of innocence. We further aim to enhance cooperation between neighboring jurisdictions concerning the juncture between the presumption of innocence and electronic evidence.
This final event will present some of the outcomes of the project, including the INNOCENT Toolkit, designed to assist legal practitioners in reviewing e-evidence from aprocedural rights perspective, and the INNOCENT Policy Guidelines and Recommendations. Additionally, it will focus on timely issues including an overview of the e-evidence Regulation, handling cybercrime cases, the instruments for cooperation in cross-border criminal matters cases, and the relation between AI and the presumption of innocence.
The conference is open to judges, prosecutors, and lawyers from Central and Eastern Europe.Expert areas
