The Institute of Legal Informatics (IRI) of the Leibniz University of Hannover at the Law School of the University of Hannover is the oldest establishment dedicated to scientific research on legal problems of Information and Communication Technologies at a German University. It was given its grant in 1983. The subject matter of the Institute’s research includes the requirements, applications and consequences of computer usage both in the legal system and in practice.
