Italian Ministry of Justice – Penitentiary Department - Proveditorato Regionale

The Provveditorato Regionale is a peripheral organ of leadership of the Ministry of Justice. It’s competent in matters of personnel, organization of services and institutions, detainees and internees, relations with local authorities, the regions and the national health service, performing these tasks at the local level according to the plans, guidelines and directives laid out by the Central Department of Penitentiary Administration based in Rome and in order to ensure the uniformity of the actions run within Italian prisons.
