On the 03th of November 2022 Law and Internet Foundation as a leading partner has officially launched the EU-funded project RELEASE via hybrid kick-off work meeting with all partners. The Kick-off meeting was held on the 3 November 2022 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Some partners joined online. During the meeting the partners presented their organisations and expertise, and discussed the project plan, implementation questions, and schedule.

The Reducing the Excessive usage of pre-triaL dEtention via hArmonisation & Support to altErnatives (RELEASE) project is focused on assisting the judiciary (including judges, investigative judges, prosecutors, defense lawyers and other legal practitioners) in EU Member States, particularly those located in Eastern Europe, to strengthen the cooperation between competent authorities on the issue of pre-trial detention. The activities that will be carried out within the framework of the project aim to facilitate the construction of a common approach, by identifying the best practices and working methods and establishing mutual trust between the partner countries.

Additionally, partners discussed the objectives and structure of the project, including management, internal procedures, dissemination and communication strategy, evaluation criteria and approach towards the envisaged events.
