Another important milestone has been reached in the implementation of the Sparrow EU project, marking a significant step forward in strengthening urban resilience where it matters most - at the local, city level.
Earlier this week, Law and Internet Foundation successfully organised and conducted a series of dynamic Tabletop Exercises (TTX) at the American University in Bulgaria. The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including students, university representatives, and local emergency services, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge exchange and practical learning.
The exercises were designed to simulate real-world crisis scenarios, placing participants in high-pressure situations that required quick thinking, coordination, and strategic decision-making. Through this highly interactive format, attendees were able to experience firsthand the complexities involved in responding to disruptions affecting critical infrastructure and essential services.
What made the exercises particularly impactful was their strong local focus. The scenarios were specifically tailored to the context of Blagoevgrad, transforming abstract concepts into tangible, realistic challenges. This localization enabled participants to better understand how crisis situations might unfold in their own community and how different stakeholders can work together effectively in response.
Prior to the simulation activities, participants were introduced to the broader vision and objectives of the Sparrow EU project. The session also highlighted the role of Law and Internet Foundation within this multinational and multidisciplinary consortium, emphasizing the importance of cross-sector collaboration in building resilient urban environments.
The successful delivery of the exercises was made possible through the dedication and expertise of all involved. Special thanks are extended to Marios Stavrou for expertly facilitating the sessions, as well as to LIF’s Executive Director Daniela Ilieva for her leadership and support. The Foundation also expresses its sincere gratitude to the hosts at AUBG, Ms. Sabina Wien, Ms. Radosveta Miltcheva, and the entire university team for their outstanding cooperation and hospitality.
By engaging local communities and institutions in practical resilience-building activities, initiatives like these contribute meaningfully to enhancing preparedness, strengthening coordination mechanisms, and fostering a culture of proactive crisis management.
The Law and Internet Foundation remains committed to advancing innovation, collaboration, and security in urban environments across Europe through the continued implementation of the Sparrow EU project.
