On 4-5 January 2026, the MaaSAI project consortium gathered in Finland for its 3rd Plenary Meeting, hosted by Tampere University. Despite the true Nordic winter conditions, the meeting provided an excellent setting for in-depth technical exchanges, strategic discussions, and strengthened collaboration among partners.

Over the course of the two full days, consortium members discussed project progress and aligned on upcoming milestones, with a focus on the advancement of the technical solutions and pilot activities. Dedicated sessions covered project management, dissemination and exploitation strategies, data models and workflows, cloud-based components, digital twins, and monitoring tools, reflecting the progress and coordination across the different work packages.

A key highlight of the plenary meeting was the on-site visit to Tasowheel, one of the MaaSAI industrial pilot partners. The visit provided consortium members with valuable insight into the industrial context, processes, and real-life challenges that the MaaSAI project aims to address, helping to further ground ongoing technical developments and discussions in concrete manufacturing use cases.

The plenary meeting also benefited from the active involvement of the project’s Advisory Board, whose feedback and strategic insights helped challenge assumptions, refine approaches, and ensure continued alignment with real industrial needs and impact pathways.

The Law and Internet Foundation team attended the plenary meeting in person and participated in all planned activities and discussions. Through exchanges with technical, industrial, and academic partners, LIF gained valuable insights into the project’s technical direction and use-case context, while contributing to discussions on governance, legal, and human-centric aspects of AI-driven manufacturing.

The Law and Internet Foundation was pleased to be part of the 3rd plenary meeting and warmly thanks Tampere University for the excellent organisation and hospitality, as well as all partners for the thoughtful discussions, openness, and collaborative atmosphere. The 3rd Plenary Meeting marked another important step forward as MaaSAI continues its journey toward delivering human-centric, trustworthy AI solutions for smarter and more resilient European manufacturing.
