On October 17, Martina Bogdanova, an expert from the Law and Internet Foundation, took part in a national conference organized by the Criminal Law Department at the Faculty of Law of Sofia University, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Dr. Dimitar Mihailov (1933-2009).
The topic that Ms. Bogdanova presented - "Online harassment as a form of inhuman treatment" - is related to one of the key projects coordinated by the Law and Internet Foundation - LEAGUE. The presentation examined the possibilities for online violence to be qualified as inhuman treatment and provided an overview of the relevant case law of the European Court of Human Rights, including on online child sexual abuse. Attention was drawn to a particularly sensitive group - underage boys, aged 10 to 18, who are the focus of the LEAGUE project, as being particularly susceptible to self-harm and suicide as a result of ongoing stigmatisation and lack of adequate psychological support.
The publication of the scientific paper is forthcoming within a collection of scientific papers from the conference.
