On 15 and 16 April 2024 in Vienna, experts from the Law and Internet Foundation took part in the 24th conference "Beyond awareness-raising: reshaping human trafficking prevention", organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Office of the Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.
The 24th Alliance Conference against Trafficking in Persons analyzed the current prevention efforts and offer solutions to reshape approaches to prevention.
Grounded in the OSCE's comprehensive prevention framework, the conference focused on:
- Delving into inherent and circumstantial vulnerabilities to trafficking and root causes of exploitation.
- Identifying gaps in the current prevention strategies to address existing and emerging forms of trafficking, including those that are often overlooked.
- Sharing lessons learned and discussing innovative policies, tools, and practices to reshape strategies for more impactful prevention.
This event emphasized the critical need for a driven-by-data and whole-of-society approach that involves governments, civil society, the private sector, and communities working together to create inclusive and innovative solutions.
The Alliance Conference aims to catalyze action for a paradigm shift in the approach to human -trafficking prevention by exploring innovative strategies that go beyond traditional awareness raising interventions. By delving into situations of vulnerabilities and root causes of exploitation, as well as emerging trafficking trends, experts presented lessons learned and promising practices in the field of THB prevention and propose ways to make such efforts more strategic and targeted.
