As of 01 of January 2018 begins a new project – Enhancing the Right to be Present - PRESENT, under the coordination of Law and Internet Foundation.

The PRESENT project is focused on the procedural rights of persons suspected or accused of crime, in particular the right to be present at trial. The project aims to contribute to the practical application of Directive (EU) 2016/343 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2016 on the strengthening of certain aspects of the presumption of innocence and of the right to be present at the trial in criminal proceedings, by gathering comprehensive knowledge on the right’s manifestation and remedies. This research will result into best practices guidelines. Within the project, the partners will conduct more than 20 events both offline and online which will foster the exchange of best practices and the discussions regarding effective remedies that are safeguarding the right.

The project unites 6 organisations from 6 different countries – Bulgaria, Austria, Romania, Slovakia, Portugal.

The project is implemented with the financial support of the European Commission’s Justice Programme under Grant Agreement No. 760482.
