On the 18 and 19 April, 2018, Macedonia was the host for the first time of the Western Balkans Digital Summit (#DSWB6) in Skopje. Prof. Dr. George Dimitrov, Chairperson of Law and Internet Foundation, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daniela Ilieva-Koleva, Executive Director of the organization, were part of the event, which aimed to bring together representatives from governments, businesses, regional organisations, CSOs, academia, and youth with the goal to set up a digital platform for exchanging of ideas and proposals.
The Summit was divided in 4 modules: Digital skills, Trust and security, Digital environment networks and services, connectivity and access, Digital economy and society, as well as several discussion panels: Digital divide: EU vs. Balkan, integrating Western Balkans 6 (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia) economies into the Digital Single Market, inclusive e-commerce, cybersecurity, fast-learning and adaptation as the most important skills for the 21st century employee, interactive discussions between governments, enterprises, innovators businesses, academia, CSOs and youth organisations.
Prof. Dr. George Dimitrov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daniela Ilieva-Koleva had the possibility to have one-to-one networking meetings, sharing experience, presenting different opinions, viewpoints and topical updates with representatives from the governments, IT industries and businesses, academia, youth, etc.
