Experts from the Law and Internet Foundation are pleased to have taken part in the first national conference on children in the digital world, organised by UNICEF Bulgaria. During the event participants met and exchanged with relevant stakeholders from the authorities, the non-governmental sector, business and young people. The discussions in the third panel were especially fruitful as the topics discussed were: Prevention of online sexual exploitation of children; Response and support services; The role of business and the media and Improving effectiveness in the process of developing and coordinating policies and practices. Representatives of the Parliament and the Government promised to reach out timely to civil society for the implementation and enhancement of already existing mechanisms for ameliorating children’s digital culture.

Two of LIF’s projects proved to be quite relevant given the discussions on children’s online safety. In both LEAGUE (Limiting online sexual Exploitation and Abuse Gender based on Underaged boys by Educating experts) and DISRUPT (Enhance Digital led InvestigationS, proSecutions and jUdicial resPonses for dismantling Trafficking chains of children), projects our experts conduct research and development activities with respect to new ways of engaging and educating affected individuals and stakeholders.
