Supporting cross-border judicial cooperation in cases related to INterCEPTion of telecommunications (INCEPT)
Projects / Ongoing
Acronym: INCEPT
Period: 01.01.2025 - 31.12.2026
Status: Current
Description
The INCEPT project aims at enhancing the judicial cooperation, particularly in regards to the European Investigation Order implementation and telecommunication interception, by developing a Methodology and a Manual to identify existing gaps and good practices.
Multiple research methods and approaches will be used during the data collection and analytical activities in order for different gaps and good practices to be identified. They will be consequently used for the two deliverables mentioned above, so they provide both theoretical information and practical implementation. The innovative aspect of these outputs will be the project’s focus on telecommunication interception, instead of the general implementation of the European Investigation Order that will also be covered.
In addition, the project will include capacity building activities at both national and international level for judges, prosecutors, investigators, and legal practitioners (including (defence) lawyers) to enhance their professional knowledge and skills in the context of interception of telecommunication and some other problematic areas of the European Investigation Order.
The projects’ dissemination tools will include a number of different initiatives, such as social media channels, a newsletter, and a Manual presentation. Combining the described approaches, INCEPT will enhance both the level of judicial cooperation and the successful European Investigation Order implementation, ensuring its correct application and the admissibility of the evidence collected through it.
The INCEPT project is coordinated by Law and Internet Foundation and is implemented with the support of the European Commission under Grant Agreement № 101192923.
